What is RCCS Chicago Classic?
The RCCS Chicago Classic is back for it's 6th year. Scores of players will unite in support of local Chicago cancer patients and their families.
This event has come to be known as a Premiere event, where thousands of spectators have come to show their support, cheer on their favorite players and watch the highly entertaining and competitive games. In addition, this event has been the main source of income and support for these local patients, as it has raised over $1.5M since it's inception in 2019. The RCCS Chicago Classic is first of three annual Ice Hockey Tournaments run by the organization, as the RCCS Hockey Classic is held in the NY/NJ area and in Florida. These Tournaments were designed to encourage their participants to raise money for a wonderful cause, while having a great time in a competitive and fun environment.
This year the Tournament is scheduled to take place at the newly built state of the art facility; Robert Crown Arena.
What is RCCS?
The mission of RCCS (Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society) is to tackle cancer challenges, ease medical treatment, cover insurance premiums to lighten the financial burden and make cancer care more accessible. RCCS is recognized 501 (c) (3) charity organization
HOW LONG IS THE TOURNAMENT?
The tournament will be Sunday February 25, 2024. All the games, playoffs, and championship will be played at the Robert Crown Arena.

GAMEPLAY

HOW WILL THE GAMES BE PLAYED?
Each game will feature two twelve-minute periods with running clock, and a third twelve-minute period with the final six minutes stopping clock. All hockey penalties will be enforced according to the referee's discretion. There will be no checking allowed and any intentional checking will result in a penalty. All fighting will result in an immediate ejection from the tournament. Additionally, all ties will result in a shootout.

ARE FAMILIES INVITED TO ATTEND?
On Sunday, there will be a family festive atmosphere with food, popcorn, and cotton candy for the kids to cheer on their fathers as they play. Additionally, there will be activities for the kids.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

DO I NEED TO HAVE A TEAM PUT TOGETHER BEFORE I REGISTER?
No. All players are supposed to sign up as individuals and will be drafted by Captains on to one of the teams.
IS THERE A MINIMUM PARTICIPANT AGE?
18
WHAT IS THE FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS?
Each player must raise $1,800. If the fundraising minimum isn't met, the difference will be divided amongst the players that didn't raise their pro-rata portion and drawn from the credit cards that were given at the time of registration.
HOW DO I GO ABOUT FINDING MY SPONSORS?
Reminder: the primary purpose of this event is a charity fundraiser. We are here to help those families struggling with cancer. This style of fundraiser is very common, and donations can be solicited from friends, family, and co-workers. This is a team commitment, and fundraising effort. Coordinate with your team captain regarding community efforts. Each person is still required to raise funds. The staff at RCCS will be happy to assist you in any way possible.
