Dear Friends,

Sunday June 23, 2021 marks the beginning of the three weeks. A time to reflect on the loss of the Beit Hamikdash, symbol of both physical and emotional strength for the Jewish people. This year, more than ever before, we can all relate to the need for connection to our families, friends, and traditions. This is where Chesed 24/7 comes in! Chesed 24/7, a non-profit organization serving 21 local hospitals, helps relieve patients from the sadness, loneliness, and fear associated with being in the hospital.

The SHABBAT-IN-A-BOX project, one of the many Chesed 24/7 programs, delivers a box to patients filled with a written get-well card from one of the volunteers, along with all the necessary items needed to celebrate shabbat from their hospital bed. The SHABBAT BOX helps offer patients a way to stay connected to their traditions and offers spiritual healing.

The SHABBAT-IN-A-BOX campaign remains close to my heart. It enables me to carry on the legacy of my father Rabbi Simeon Schreiber A"H who, as a hospital chaplain began rhis project in Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami, Florida. Before his passing three years ago, he personally delivered boxes to each Jewish patient in the hospital every Friday for ten years. Upon his passing, former family members recounted numerous stories of their appreciation and for comfort they felt having been able to celebrate shabbat while in the hospital.
Please help me continue to reach my fundraising goal by donating to my campaign page.
