Just two years ago Rabbi Teddy Newman and his wife Sara, decided to move to the community of North Woodmere in Long Island, NY.
Rabbi Teddy, a Rov for many years, originally from the UK, had been involved in Shuls before, but had always dreamed of starting his own Shul and community.
A strong and growing religious enclave next to the Five Towns, North Woodmere has shuls and communities which are already packed.
Rabbi Teddy opened a Shul in his basement, called Khal Chassidim North Woodmere (KCNW), the week he moved in, with only knowing one or two people. Just two years later, the Shul - after already expanding the Rabbi's basement - is in contract to buy a house a few blocks away to double the size of the Shul, have a place for children's groups and father-child learning, and a larger and dedicated space for kiddushim and shiurim.
The Shul currently has Daf Yomi, Chassidus, Parsha and Halacha Shiurim.
There is a weekly father and child learning for boys and girls, groups on shabbos, and much more to cater to the younger families in the community.
On top of that, Rabbi Teddy is available to anyone who reaches out, be it to ask a shailoh, to ask advice of for someone to listen.
Khal Chassidim caters to those who need a informal Shul to connect to Hashem, with someone who leads them but understands them.
Rabbi Teddy was asked when he moved in, what he was looking to accomplish.
His answer: "To inspire, and help people connect to Hashem".
People attend his shul for many reasons:
Whether it's because of Rabbi Teddy - his warmth, his short but powerful speeches, the enjoyable davening, convenient location or various others - Either way, KCNW is packed and needs a bigger space to cater to the growing community and all of their activities.
Maybe you know Rabbi Teddy personally, or maybe you don't.
Maybe you live in North Woodmere or close, or maybe you don't.
Maybe you just like to support good causes which help other Jews -
For whatever reason, please help support this Shul reach its' goal and potential in being there for the community at large, and help them connect to HaKadosh Baruch Hu.
