Just a few months ago, I founded Active Seniors Accomplished Personnel (ASAP), as a division of Chesed of Lakewood. The goal of ASAP is to match up 55-plus residents of Lakewood with jobs in local businesses that can benefit from their experience, professionalism and skills.
With the major growth of the Lakewood community as a whole, one of the sub-communities that is rapidly growing is that of active adults over the age 55 who have moved to town to be near their children and enjoy the resources available here. Many of these capable men and women are not ready to retire. They still have much to offer, and have decades of experience that can be of benefit to so many in so many ways. ASAP acts as a shadchan between these active seniors seeking part or full-time employment and businesses that could benefit from their expertise, knowledge, wisdom and years of experience.
ASAP is also offering training to seniors to help them brush up on skills they may need for a new position and to learn new technology and programs they may not be familiar with from their previous jobs. All of our services are offered free of charge to both the job seekers and the businesses.
Although the organization was founded not long ago, many seniors – both men and women - have already been matched up with appropriate jobs, and are thriving in their new positions while serving as valuable assets for the company as well. The feedback we have received from both the seniors we have placed and the businesses we have provided with workers has been universally positive.
I am contacted daily by many individuals seeking jobs and businesses looking for employees. With the public’s financial assistance, ASAP will be able to add more resources to allow us to place even more seniors in appropriate positions. All donations will be appreciated and will help expand our important operations.
