We face more challenges as a community this year than ever before. The legalization of marijuana use and gambling in both NY and NJ will without fail lead to increased use, and as a natural result, increased MISUSE of these harmful and addictive substances. Fortunately, SAFE will be there to help our families and always with complete confidentiality.
2020 had been a particularly challenging year for our community and SAFE has been there continuously throughout the pandemic.
21% MORE people reached out to SAFE in 2020 than in 2019 for help. A total of 844 community members. That is 844 FAMILIES going through a difficult situation affecting thousands of our community members in a single year.
And it hasn’t stopped – the first 5 months of 2021 have shown an increase of 7% over 2020 calls for help.
Despite having to discontinue in-person treatment for a period of time, SAFE actually conducted 3,890 individual sessions – 144 more than in 2019.
SAFE IS COMMITTED TO HELPING OUR COMMUNITY. YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS CRITICAL TO HELP US CONTINUE OUR IMPORTANT WORK.
DESPITE THE INCREASE IN CLIENTS, OUR FUNDRAISING IN 2020 WAS DOWN DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
PLEASE CONSIDER INCREASING YOUR PLEDGE FOR 2021 IF YOU ARE ABLE.

Established in 2003, The SAFE Foundation is a New York state licensed OASAS (office of alcoholism and substance abuse services) outpatient treatment program located in Brooklyn, New York. We serve as a reliable haven for those experiencing difficulties with drug addiction, alcoholism, and compulsive gambling.
The SAFE Foundation is comprised of 2 parts, our licensed outpatient treatment program and our school program, project safe. Project Safe is a school-based, prevention skills program that uses a 900-page, 30-week curriculum that was formulated especially for the safe foundation. Project safe aims to provide each student the opportunity to grow and to develop the personal, social, and resistance skills they need to successfully navigate through life.
