About

A 7th grade boy feels misunderstood in his current yeshiva, and his parents must look for other options. An 8th grader begins vocally voicing her doubts, resulting in numerous calls between the hanhala and her parents. A teenaged boy starts to hang out with the fringe elements in his neighborhood and rejecting his previous friends. A young girl starts to use technology unapproved by her parents, and is on the cusp of being thrown out of her high school. Where do these parents turn?

Nesivos, an organization dedicated to providing behavioral, social, and emotional guidance and resources for struggling teens and their families, is the first responder in all these scenarios.

Nesivos provides the full gamut of services, from the initial intake interview, to continuing case management support, mentorship, job placement, school advocacy, and ongoing parental support. Nesivos recognizes that most struggles stem from some form of mental anguish, and it seeks to address these issues at its source. No matter the situation, Nesivos never despairs, giving despondent parents the first glimmer of hope they have seen in months.

Case Managers track each child's individual needs, and make sure they are being met over time. They facilitate therapy, assign Nesivos-trained mentors, recommend schools, offer job opportunities, and most of all, provide a listening ear and on-target guidance for distraught parents. Nesivos provides bi-weekly support groups that empower parents in a safe environment, guiding them to make the best choices for their child.

Nesivos also has several community-wide events throughout the year, where anyone with a struggling child is invited to attend and imbibe much-needed chizuk from the program and the give-and-take between attendees.

Donating to Nesivos allows your friend, your neighbor, your sibling to successfully navigate their child's unique, often heart-breaking, journey. Because much of Nesivos's work must remain highly confidential, you may not know who is availing themselves of their services. The teenaged boy, 8th grade girl, 7th grade boy, and high school student may not necessarily look any different from your own child. But each of these children is mutely crying out, asking for someone- anyone- to catch them, to break their fall. Each of these children, the visible and silent ones, has a father whose heart is broken, a mother who sheds continuous tears, and siblings who watch in desperation as their brother or sister slips further away.

Please donate today, and ensure that neither these children nor their families are alone as they work toward mental health and success.
