The Lev Zecharia division of Lev Chana is named in memory of Zach Mishaan a"h, who was a legendary force in our community that kept up the dignity of the many people he helped. Zach A"H was driven to work and raise money on behalf of Lev Chana because he lived by Hashems promise "You take care of my children I will take care of your children" and that was Zach's main mission in life, taking care of his children.
The mission of Lev Zechariah is to help parents with large families buy clothing for their children for the holidays. We are continuing Zach's legacy, who collected for this cause. Zach A"H was driven to work and raise money on behalf of Lev Chana because he lived by Hashems promise, "If you take care of my children (i.e. widow, orphans and families in need) I will take care of your children" Zach's main mission in life was taking care of his children to the best of his abilities.
Imagine how embarrassing it is for a boy not to have a Shabbat shirt and suit, or for a girl to be ashamed to leave the house on Shabbat because she does not have a nice dress? Or for parents not to have money to buy shoes for their growing children?
Lev Zechariah helps such families buy clothing them, by sending them gift cards that work in local clothing stores. We do it privately and with respect & dignity, so that the parents are not embarrassed, and the children will not know their Holiday clothes were bought with charity money.
