Mommy Mommy!
On Thursday, a very special woman passed away after spending two difficult years battling cancer. She came from Russia and left everything behind, managing to raise a beautiful, Torahdike family in Buffalo, NY, where she ran the kosher deli. She was caretaker for her husband, who is suffering from early onset dementia; he was just transferred to a facility in Freehold, NJ, as she could no longer continue caring for him. He does not recognize his children, and not only can't he care for them, but they will have to participate in his care.
These children just lost their mother and their father in the span of three days.
There are no grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins or any other family in the picture. These children, the youngest of whom is ten, are completely alone. They will require significant financial and emotional support going forward.
Before she passed away, this wonderful mother was promised that her children would be cared for. And beezras Hashem they will be.
The immediate focus is on ensuring that, before the children get up from shivah, there is a plan for caring for each of them. Indeed, the goal is to mark every milestone, from bar mitzvah to taking each one of these precious children to the chupah and beyond.
Join in this important mitzvah of raising the necessary funds to establish a fitting endowment for the children.
These are Hashem's kinderlach!
