Hey Tribe,
As many of you may know, Camp Sternberg has played a tremendously active and vital role in my life for the past 23 years and in many ways has attributed to the woman I am today and continue to flourish into because of.
When I was 6 years old Rabbi Greenwald zt"l, became aware of my existence, unhealthy home environment, challenging life circumstances, and took me under his wing by gifting me the opportunity to come to his camp on a scholarship every summer free of charge. While my external locations through childhood and adulthood were a story of constant changing, Camp Sternberg became the one positive and most consistent variable throughout it all. Regardless of how broken, different, unloveable, or lost I felt in the outside world. Rabbi Greenwald zt"l his staff from day one fiercely loved and believed in me, guided me into finding my voice, and cultivated an environment In Camp Sternberg that enabled me to have a place where I not only felt like I belonged but also a space of safety where I was able to let go of the heaviness of the world, survival mode and just be free to be a kid, which the value and healing impact that has had into my evolvement of building healthy relationships with self and others into adulthood has been immeasurable.
My deep river of gratitude for my Sternberg Home and Family flows endlessly.
In addition to continuing to be a part of the staff at a limited capacity, this summer, I as well will be participating in the Hike2Help hiking and canoeing event in an effort to raise funds for the Rabbi Ronnie Greenwald Camp Scholarship Fund. This fund helps girls from families in crisis, who due to financial constraints cannot afford to attend camp, which is a much-needed respite from a painful reality. The Ronnie Greenwald Camp Scholarship Fund gives them the opportunity to attend camp and a chance to recharge while being supported and uplifted. Please help me make a difference in the lives of so many girls, who from personal experience, would otherwise not have this opportunity!
