My name is Lazer Shulem

At the age of 9 I was diagnosed with Leukemia. No one can understand the feeling what it means. From one day to the other, my life changed from a regular 9 year old innocent school boy to a cancer patient in hospital.  From a shy boy used to playing with friends his age at lunch to a patient only seeing doctors and nurses all day. From enjoying the bus ride to/from school daily, to only being able to watch cars/buses from high up in the hospital window. From a young boy that only had to worry about his marks on the school tests, to a patient having to worry for all kind of tests, from numerous blood tests daily, to CT scans etc.

It’s impossible to describe the fear that I went through.  

All this changed when Chai Lifeline walked into the hospital room, everything changed from a boring, fearing, painful, lifeless and sad place they transformed it to a happy place, full of life.

No, the pain and medications didn’t disappear but it wasn’t anymore what it filled my head with, they made sure my day is filled up with joy and activities so I should forget a little of all the pain and worries.

This didn’t stop when I was discharged from hospital. They were at my side for the next few years, from daily activities and outings when possible, to trips and parties, doctor visits, gifts, and top of all, the 5 years in Camp simcha, a place that cannot be described with words.

 

To sum it up in short, I would never be where I’m today if not for Chai Lifeline.

Unfortunately, I’m one of thousands of kids in the Chai Lifeline family, and supporting such a big family requires lots of money. Therefore; I begging you to support me in my effort to help Chai Lifeline, so they can continue with their amazing work to help other kids with life threatening or lifelong diseases.
