Many life circumstances can throw a family into chaos and render parents unable to provide the physical or emotional nurturance their children need. When situations like a mental illness, divorce, or medical crisis overturn a family, the impact on every family member can spiral out of control and change their lives forever.
What if that spiral could be interrupted?
When a family is in crisis, Bridges is there to offer support by providing respite and host homes for children in our community so that they can continue to receive the nurturing they need despite the crisis. Children visit respite homes for several hours after school or on weekends to enjoy the benefit of a nurturing family. Children live in host homes when simply visiting is not enough. Most importantly, Bridges' comprehensive case management, linking families to therapeutic support and community-based resources, helps to restore stability in the home so that the children may return to a happier, healthier life.
For the next five days, Bridges is working to raise $160,000 so we can continue to serve the families in our community by facilitating the village it takes to raise a child.
